Scientifically backed causes
These are currently the cause areas that we think are best. They were identified by independent research. They are:
- Evidence-based
- Help the most people for your dollar
Empower people with cash transfersDirectly transferring money to poor individuals empowers them to purchase whatever they believe will help them most. Strong evidence indicates that recipients know their own situation best and generally invest in things which make them happier in the long term. There are eleven randomized controlled trials supporting cash transfers’ impact. (1) Learn more about cash transfers here.

Send a kid to school with dewormingDeworming is the most cost-effective way to increase school attendance because often the effects of parasitic worms (such as anemia) make it difficult to go to school. These worms can often be treated for under a dollar. There are 14 randomized and quasi-randomized controlled trials supporting deworming's impact. (2) Learn more about deworming here.

Other promising areas
We find many different areas promising but these are three that stand out. We are doing further research into each of these areas and may support them in the future.
Animal rightsAnimal rights is a very neglected and important area. You can learn more about evidence-based animal rights charities here.

Poverty researchPoverty research seems like a promising area as there is still much to learn about the best interventions. We are, however, unsure about the value of this research when compared to direct poverty interventions.

Research analysis
We greatly value the work some charity evaluators have done and think that funding them is very promising, although we would like to learn substantially more.
